Summary

In this episode, I'll be talking with therapist and author Dreya Blume about her experience integrating Tarot into her work with clients. We'll explore a brief history of tarot, significant social aspects of the practice, and adaptations that make tarot useful for client introspection and self awareness.

  • Explore Jungian archetypal images represented in traditional tarot
  • Understand the transition of tarot's use as a supernatural tool to a projective psychological tool.

Dreya Blume

LCSW has been a licensed clinical social worker for almost twenty years, the same amount of time she's been working with tarot cards. She's authored several books on the topic including Tarot for Transformation: Using the Major Arcana to Discover Your Best Self and Create a Life Worth Living.

Candice Creasman Mowrey

PhD, LCMHCS - Dr. Candice Creasman Mowrey received a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008, and a Doctorate in Counseling and Counselor Education from North Carolina State University in 2015. She has worked in in-patient, psychosocial rehabilitation, community agency, disability services, and intensive outpatient settings. She founded Creasman Counseling, PLLC, a single-person private practice, in 2011, which has grown to a team of over a dozen culturally and professionally diverse clinicians. Dr. Creasman Mowrey has taught Masters level counseling students in online and in-person settings, and currently directs a Clinical Mental Health Counseling internship program.

Accreditations

Creasman Counseling PLLC's courses meet the qualifications for CE hours as required by NBCC. Beyond Therapy has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP #7234. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Creasman Counseling, PLLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
